About James

James Cordeiro has represented Terrace on City Council since 2011. He also serves as a director on the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine, where he works with neighbouring communities on regional services, infrastructure and long-term planning.

Outside public office, James is Northern Health's Northwest Diagnostic Services Coordinator. He studied Business Administration at Trinity Western University and has more than 15 years of firsthand experience operating businesses in downtown Terrace. That experience has reinforced the importance of clear information, responsible spending and decisions that deliver practical results.

During his time in local government, James has helped advocate for major infrastructure funding, seniors housing, downtown safety initiatives and support for local health-care training. At the Regional District, he introduced the motion that established a scholarship program to help people pursue and upgrade training in health-care fields. As well, Mayor Bujtas and James put forward the motion to cap local funding for Ksyen Regional Hospital, saving local taxpayers approximately $120 million.

James believes experience matters most when it is paired with independent judgment. He supports sound proposals, asks hard questions when the details do not add up, and is prepared to vote no when Terrace residents are not receiving sufficient public value.
